What is Skill Bridge?

Skill Bridge is a visual support creation platform designed to help clinicians, educators, caregivers, and other professionals quickly create individualized learning and communication materials. Instead of searching through generic worksheets, building visuals manually, or spending significant time designing materials from scratch, Skill Bridge helps you create customized supports in minutes.

You can use Skill Bridge to create visual schedules, First/Then boards, token boards, social stories, communication supports, matching and receptive identification activities, task analyses, sequencing activities, and more.

Who is Skill Bridge designed for?

Skill Bridge is designed for people who regularly create individualized supports for children, students, clients, or learners, including:

• Behavior analysts and ABA professionals

• Teachers and special education professionals

• Speech and language professionals

• Occupational therapy professionals

• Early intervention providers

• Clinics and therapy organizations

• Parents and caregivers

You do not need graphic design experience to use Skill Bridge.

Is Skill Bridge only for ABA?

No. Although Skill Bridge was created with the needs of ABA professionals in mind, the tools can be used across many educational, therapeutic, and home environments. Visual supports, schedules, communication boards, sequencing activities, task analyses, matching activities, and similar resources can be useful in special education, speech therapy, occupational therapy, early intervention, classrooms, clinics, and home programs.

Who created Skill Bridge?

Skill Bridge was created by a current BCBA with direct input from other ABA professionals who understand how much time can be spent creating individualized materials for clients and students. The goal is simple: reduce the amount of time professionals spend building materials so they can spend more time actually working with the people they support.

 

What tools are included in Skill Bridge?

Skill Bridge includes a growing collection of tools for creating visual supports, instructional materials, communication resources, and learning activities.

Current tools include:

• First/Then Boards: Create simple visual representations of what happens first and what happens next.

• Visual Schedules: Build customized schedules for routines, activities, transitions, school days, therapy sessions, and more.

• Token Boards: Create individualized reinforcement boards using motivating themes and visuals.

• Visual Timers: Provide a visual representation of time to support transitions, waiting, and task completion.

• Social Stories: Create individualized stories to explain situations, expectations, routines, or upcoming experiences.

• Matching Activities: Build customized matching activities using meaningful and individualized stimuli.

• Receptive Identification Activities: Create materials for programs such as identifying objects, people, actions, categories, and more.

• Fine Motor Tracing: Generate tracing activities for early writing and fine motor practice.

• Task Analysis: Break skills into smaller, teachable steps with visual support.

Can I customize the materials for

a specific learner?

Yes. Individualization is one of the primary reasons Skill Bridge was created. Instead of relying only on generic, premade materials, you can create supports around the learner's actual routines, interests, goals, preferences, environments, and needs.

 

For example, you might create:

• A visual schedule using the learner's actual daily routine

• A token board based on a preferred theme

• A communication board containing foods the learner actually eats

• A First/Then board for a specific transition

• Matching materials using familiar objects

• A task analysis for the learner's own hygiene routine

• A social story for an upcoming event

• A sequencing activity based on a familiar daily task

 

Can I use my own ideas and wording?

Yes. Skill Bridge is intended to help you create individualized materials rather than force you into a single predetermined template. You remain in control of the content, wording, purpose, and way the finished material is used.

 

Can Skill Bridge create materials for early learners?

Yes. Many of the tools are particularly useful for early learners or individuals working on foundational communication, receptive language, matching, imitation, independence, sequencing, and daily living skills. The platform can also be used to quickly create probe materials when you want to assess whether a learner already possesses a skill before formally teaching it.

 

Can I create materials for older learners too?

Yes. Skill Bridge is not limited to a particular age group. The appropriateness of a visual or activity depends on the individual learner, the skill being addressed, and how the material is designed. Users can create supports that are more age respectful and relevant to older children, adolescents, or adults.

How quickly can I create a visual?

Many Skill Bridge materials can be created in just a few minutes. The exact amount of time depends on the tool and how much customization you choose to add, but Skill Bridge is specifically designed to eliminate much of the manual formatting and design work involved in creating visual supports from scratch.

Do I need to know how to use Canva or other design software?

No. Skill Bridge handles the layout and creation process for you. You do not need advanced design skills or experience with programs such as Canva, PowerPoint, or graphic design software.

Can I print the materials I create?

Yes. Skill Bridge is designed so materials can be used beyond the screen, including as printed supports when appropriate.

This makes it possible to create a visual quickly and then use it in a classroom, clinic, therapy environment, or home.

Can I share materials with families or other team members?

Yes. Skill Bridge is designed to make it easier to create resources that can be shared with the people supporting the learner. For example, a clinician could create a visual for a skill being taught in the clinic and provide the same support to a parent for use at home.

Always follow your organization's privacy, consent, and information sharing requirements when sharing learner specific materials.

Can I use Skill Bridge on a phone or tablet?

Skill Bridge is designed to be accessible across modern devices, including computers, tablets, and mobile devices. For more detailed creation tasks, some users may prefer the additional screen space of a computer or tablet, but the platform can also be accessed from a mobile browser.

Do I have to install anything?

No installation is required to use the web version of Skill Bridge. You can access it through your browser and sign in to your account.

Does Skill Bridge choose my client's or student's goals for me?

No. Skill Bridge is a creation tool, not a replacement for professional assessment, clinical decision making, educational planning, or individualized treatment. We help you build the materials to support those decisions.

The professional using the platform determines:

• What skill should be targeted

• Whether the material is appropriate

• How the skill should be taught

• What prompting or reinforcement procedures should be used

• How progress should be measured

• When a skill is mastered or needs modification

Does Skill Bridge replace a BCBA, teacher, SLP, OT, or other professional?

No. Skill Bridge is designed to support professionals, not replace them. It helps reduce the time involved in preparing individualized materials while leaving clinical and educational decisions with the qualified professional.

Can Skill Bridge be used for ABA programs?

Yes. How the materials are used should be determined by the supervising professional and the learner's individualized treatment plan. Skill Bridge can help create materials that may be incorporated into ABA programming, including supports for:

• Matching

• Receptive identification

• Tacting

• Communication

• Sequencing

• Daily living skills

• Task analyses

Can I use Skill Bridge to probe a skill before adding a program?

Yes. This is one of the ways Skill Bridge can save professionals significant preparation time. For example, if you want to determine whether a learner can already match common objects, identify actions, sequence a familiar routine, or tact specific items, you can quickly create materials for an informal or structured probe rather than spending time creating an entirely new stimulus set manually.

The professional remains responsible for determining how probes are conducted, scored, and interpreted.

Can parents use materials created in Skill Bridge?

Yes. Visual supports can often be particularly useful when the same expectations, communication options, routines, or teaching supports are available across multiple environments. Professionals can create resources that parents or caregivers can use at home when doing so is appropriate for the learner's plan.

Can Skill Bridge help with generalization?

It can help professionals create materials that support generalization. For example, instead of teaching a concept with only one set of pictures, a professional can create additional examples, environments, people, items, or scenarios to expose the learner to greater variation. Generalization ultimately depends on how instruction is designed and implemented, so creating varied materials is only one part of that process.

Are the visuals limited to one type of person, family, or background?

No. Skill Bridge can be used to create individualized and inclusive visual supports representing different people, environments, activities, and experiences. This allows professionals to create materials that better reflect the learners and communities they serve instead of relying exclusively on one generic set of clip art.

Can I create visuals that look like a learner's actual environment?

Skill Bridge can be used to create materials that are more specific to a learner's routines and surroundings than traditional premade visual sets. For highly individualized supports, users should choose content that accurately represents the learner's environment and intended skill.

Can I use copyrighted characters in materials?

Users are responsible for ensuring that the content they create or upload is appropriate for their intended use and that they have the necessary rights or permissions when using copyrighted or trademarked material. When possible, we recommend using original, licensed, generic, or appropriately generated imagery rather than reproducing protected characters or artwork without permission.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. New users can try Skill Bridge free for 14 days. No credit card is required to begin the trial.

​

What happens during the free trial?

The trial gives you access to Skill Bridge so you can explore the platform, create materials, and determine whether it fits your workflow before choosing a paid plan. The trial currently includes an allowance of up to 25 creations.  Anything you create during your trial will still be available even if you don't proceed with a paid plan.

What happens when my free trial ends?

When the free trial ends, you can choose a paid subscription if you would like to continue creating new materials with Skill Bridge.

There is no requirement to enter a credit card simply to begin the free trial.

What subscription plans are available?

Skill Bridge currently offers three plan levels designed for different levels of use:

Solo: Designed for an individual professional or lighter usage, with up to 25 creations per month.

Caseload: Designed for professionals creating materials regularly across a caseload, with up to 70 creations per month.

Clinic: Designed for higher volume use, with up to 200 creations per month.

 

Monthly and annual subscription options are both available.

How much does Skill Bridge cost?

Current pricing is displayed on the Skill Bridge pricing page found here. Plans are structured around expected creation volume so users can choose the level that best matches how frequently they use the platform.

What counts as a creation?

A creation is generally counted when you generate a new Skill Bridge resource using one of the creation tools. Your account tracks your available monthly creation allowance based on your subscription level.  Every paid plan includes access to the growing community library as well.

Does viewing an existing visual use another creation?

Your creation allowance is intended to reflect the creation of new resources rather than simply accessing materials you have already created.

​

Does my creation allowance reset?

Paid plan creation allowances reset according to your subscription cycle. Your account area can show information about your current plan and usage.

​

What if I need more creations?

If your current plan no longer matches your usage, you can move to a plan with a larger monthly creation allowance.

​

Can I cancel my subscription?

Yes. Paid subscriptions can be canceled through the available subscription and billing controls. Your access to paid features will follow the terms of your current billing period and subscription status.

Will I automatically be charged after the free trial?

You are not required to provide a credit card to start the 14-day trial, so simply beginning a trial does not automatically enroll you in a paid subscription. If you later choose a paid plan, billing follows the subscription option you select.

Should I enter confidential client information into Skill Bridge?

Users should avoid entering unnecessary personally identifiable or protected health information when creating materials. For most visuals, a learner's full name, diagnosis, date of birth, medical information, or other sensitive identifying information is not needed.

Organizations and professionals should follow their own privacy policies, consent requirements, professional standards, and applicable laws when deciding what information may be entered into any digital platform.

Is Skill Bridge a medical or diagnostic tool?

No. Skill Bridge does not diagnose conditions, prescribe treatment, or replace individualized evaluation by a qualified professional.

It is a resource creation platform.

Does Skill Bridge provide clinical recommendations?

Skill Bridge may provide educational guidance and tools to help users create and implement visual supports, but the user remains responsible for all clinical, educational, and treatment decisions.

​

Is Skill Bridge HIPAA compliant?

Skill Bridge should not be treated as a system for storing protected health information.  Users should avoid entering unnecessary PHI or other sensitive information into visual support creation tools.

Can a clinic use Skill Bridge?

Yes. The Clinic plan is intended for organizations or users who need a larger monthly creation allowance. Skill Bridge can help clinics reduce the time staff spend repeatedly creating visual materials across multiple learners and programs.

Can different team members create different materials?

How accounts and access are managed depends on the plan and current account features. For larger organizations, shared logins are fine.  Just be aware that the login is tied to a set number of creations each month so you'll want everyone within your company to know this beforehand.

Can I create something for a parent and then modify it for the clinic?

Yes. One of the benefits of a flexible visual creation platform is the ability to create supports for different environments and adapt content as needed. For example, a communication board used at the clinic may contain clinic specific reinforcers, while a home version could contain favorite foods, toys, family activities, or locations.

How do I start using Skill Bridge?

Create an account and begin your 14-day free trial. No credit card is required. Once signed in, choose the tool you want to use, enter the information needed for your visual or activity, customize it, and create your resource.

Which tool should I start with?

It depends on what you are trying to accomplish.

• If you need help with a transition, try a First/Then Board or Visual Schedule.

• If you are building a reinforcement system, try a Token Board.

• If you are teaching a multiple step independence skill, try Task Analysis.

• If you are working on communication, try the Communication Board.

• If you are teaching language or early learning skills, explore Matching, Receptive ID, Tacting, Scene Finder, Sort & Categorize, or Sequence Builder.

• If you are preparing a learner for a new situation or expectation, try a Social Story.

I'm not sure how to use a visual support. Is there guidance?

Yes. Skill Bridge includes an Implementation Guide designed to help users better understand how different supports can be introduced and incorporated into teaching. Visuals are most effective when they are intentionally selected and consistently implemented rather than simply presented to a learner without instruction.

What makes Skill Bridge different from downloading premade visuals?

Premade visual libraries can be useful, but they often require you to search through large collections hoping to find something close to what you need. Skill Bridge starts with the individual. You can create the support you actually need for the specific learner, skill, routine, reinforcer, environment, or situation rather than redesigning your teaching around whatever premade resource happens to be available.

What makes Skill Bridge different from creating visuals manually?

You can absolutely create many of these resources yourself using design programs, documents, image searches, or presentation software. Skill Bridge is designed to eliminate much of that repetitive work. Instead of spending your time finding images, aligning boxes, formatting text, resizing elements, creating layouts, and starting over for the next learner, you can focus on deciding what you want to teach and let Skill Bridge help create the materials.

Will more tools be added?

Yes. Skill Bridge is an actively evolving platform. We continue to improve existing tools and develop new ways to make individualized material creation faster and easier based on real world use and feedback from professionals.
